2017 SMV Conference

The purpose of this third and final event sponsored by the Self, Motivation & Virtue Project was to enable the ten grant-funded research teams to present their research results, to provide a context for sharing ideas and fostering collaboration, and to allow the SMV Project Directors to assess the progress of each team.

The conference will be held at the Marriott Conference Center in Norman, Oklahoma, one of the largest hotel and conference centers in the state. Its amenities include a wide selection of complimentary indoor and outdoor recreational opportunities, including walking trails, sports courts and a 60,000 sq. ft. fitness center.

Rooms will be reserved in advance for all registered conference participants and direct-billed to the SMV Project. Participants will be personally liable for incidentals. Room check-in is at 3:00 PM; checkout is 12:00 PM.

Meals will be provided for all registered participants through the duration of the conference. Provided meals include: Thursday (6/22) reception and dinner, Friday (6/23) breakfast, lunch, reception and dinner, Saturday (6/24) breakfast lunch, reception and dinner, and Sunday (6/25) breakfast.

Travel

Conference participants should arrange to fly into Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City. The Marriott Conference Center at NCED provides shuttle transportation to and from Will Rogers World Airport for $32.00 per person, one-way. Participants whose travel expenses will be reimbursed by the SMV Project are asked to book their ground transportation with the Marriott Conference Center, as their shuttle fees will be direct-billed to the SMV Project.

Note to Research Team Members: Although the Marriott Conference Center shuttle fees will be direct-billed to the SMV Project, these fees are travel expenses, and thus will count against your total reimbursement allotment. Please plan accordingly.

Ground Transportation Booking Instructions

Please reserve your shuttle by calling the Marriott Conference Center front desk at (405) 447-9000 at least 48 hours prior to arrival. You will need to provide your last name and the event title, “2017 Self, Motivation & Virtue Project Conference.” Please wait to book your shuttle at least 14 days after registering. This will enable conference staff to enter your name into the Conference Center’s system.
